This authentic Medium Beni Ourain rug measures 230cm x 160cm and has been handwoven by Latifah a traditional Berber tribe woman. The striking Beni Ourain characteristics, such as the Berber motifs and symbols, the soft and sumptuous hand spun wool and the neutral colour palette have made them a favourite amongst our customers. Many of the symbols and motifs represent different elements of life ranging from the natural world, good luck charms, fertility, sexuality and survival.
Sourced In The Atlas Mountains
Sourced directly from the majestic Atlas Mountains, this authentic Beni Ourain rug would be an ideal centrepiece rug for your dining room or sitting room due to generous proportions. Many of the weaving techniques employed in the making of this rug have been passed down through the generations. Some of these techniques are hundreds of years old, and when combined with the skills developed by each weaver, they create a unique artistic masterpiece. Sheep’s wool has an amazing ability to repel many stains due to lanolin, its natural built in stain barrier. The abstract designs shown here work well with both traditional and contemporary interiors.
Beni Ourain Rug Care
Although a light coloured rug may cause some initial doubts, the natural lanolin of the wool helps to repel minor stains. These rugs are naturally hardwearing - if you do experience any small stains simply wipe in the direction of the weave with a mild wool detergent and damp cloth. For a more intense clean we suggest hiring a professional rug cleaner periodically to keep your Beni Ourain rug in great condition.
