This authentic Beni Ourain rug measures 420cm x 300cm, and has been expertly handwoven by Hagar, A Berber Tribes Woman. The same craftsmanship and weaving methods have been used by these gifted artisans for centuries, and each generation teaches their skills to the next, keeping the craft alive for others to enjoy.

Naturally Sourced

This outstanding Berber rug is sourced from the Northern African Atlas Mountains. Its interesting geometrical motifs are both alluring and unique, and the all-natural material from which the textile is made guarantees a one-of-a-kind design that cannot be copied or imitated. Far from a random pattern, the designs woven on the surface by the indigenous peoples have a wide array of meanings. Some of the symbols depict family history, meditation and prayer rituals, or sexuality and fertility. Others are good luck symbols, while still others are symbols believed to stop evil from entering the home. Meticulously woven by expert hands from handspun wool, each rug is guaranteed to be authentic.

Suitable for all Homes

The neutral shades used to weave Berber rugs are similar to those found in nature, and will easily blend with your home’s current interior design scheme. We make frequent trips to Morocco throughout the year where we hand-select each rug to guarantee the highest quality possible.

Berber Rug Care

Some customers are surprised to learn just how easy it is to care for these light-coloured rugs - many expect them to be prone to staining. However, because of lanolin, an organic component of sheep’s wool, these rugs are naturally stain resistant. If spills occur, simply use a damp cloth to wipe in the natural direction of the weave and prevent the stain from setting in. If a deep, full cleaning is required, however, we suggest a professional rug cleaner be used.
